Leyton Orient managed to retain Andrea for Campaign

League One’s Leyton Orient have managed to secure former Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena until the end of the campaign. The club are struggling in the third tier of English football and are facing a potential relegation threatening situation.

The experience of Dossena, who has represented some of the biggest clubs in the world like Liverpool and Napoli, will be able to provide immense advantage to the club going forward. Since the will not be able to sustain the wages of the former Italian international for much longer, it is expected that Dossena’s stay may be extended if the club are promoted to the Championship.

The chances of promotion may appear slim given the poor league position, but the club are only 11 points behind the final play-off spot. The 33-year-old was once a £ 7 million signing from Liverpool. His best moments with the Reds came when he scored against Real Madrid in the Champions League, while also managing another goal against Manchester United in the Premier League. The club managed only one win in the previous eight matches, but since the arrival of Dossena, their form has improved. They recently managed a 4-1 win over Crewe Alexandra to move away from the relegation zone.

It is thought that the presence of Italian manager Milanese played a key role in the former Italian international coming to the club.”It was very important to win at home and I thought that we played the game very well, the lads were fantastic. There is a lot of spirit and belief in this squad and results will give us a bit more confidence. During the week, I was confident that we would give a good performance and I’m happy for our supporters that they were able to enjoy the afternoon,” said Milanese after the win over Crewe Alexandra.
