ROMA MATCH IS MASSIVE

Palermo defender Andrea Dossena has said that the upcoming match with Roma is going to be extremely important in the chances of his team finishing the season strongly. Dossena is currently on loan at Palermo from his parent club Napoli till the end of the season. The team has been struggling against relegation throughout the season. They currently sit 18th on the table one point away from safety. In order to have any chance of escaping relegation in the remaining in five matches of the season, the team need to win the match against Roma.

This is one of the toughest matches for Palermo from now until the end of the season given that Roma are fighting to finish in the top six positions of the table. The team have been on a good run of form in recent weeks following the arrival of the new manager. They have lost just one match in the last five, and they are the favourites going into the weekend’s match. Palermo, meanwhile, come into the match on the back of the 2-0 defeat against Champions League place chasing AC Milan.

Former Liverpool defender Dossena has been influential for the club in recent months, as he has made 10 appearances. The future of the 31-year-old, though, remains unclear.

“The match with Roma might be our last chance. But then again maybe it won’t be. We have little chance [of surviving], but we are not resigned. The math says that we are still capable. There are two months of the season left. We have to play for ourselves, for the the club and for the city,” said Dossena. The club still have matches against top teams like Inter Milan from now until the end of the season. Palermo have been poor for most of the current season.
